Glen Oak Studio offers a variety of sport related templates to transfer your action photos into exciting posters.  Our posters will provide a nice addition to your son or daughter’s room.  When you think posters, you envision a large image; say (20x30) in size.  But due to the demand for the posters, we have decided to expand our selection to include smaller photos.  Instructions on how to order your posters can be found in the Order Section of the website.

The following provides a list of the templates we offer along with information about the templates and sample view:

We provide 12 basic Border Style templates.
Each template comes in 5 sizes:

5x7 (1,2)
8x10 (1,2,3)
11x14 (1,2,3)
16x24 (1,2,3)
20x30 (1,2,3)

The number of photos per template/poster is noted to the right of the different sizes, e.g. (1,2).  Mixing both horizontal and vertical (portrait) photographs renders a nice montage poster.

Signature Series Posters are available for all templates with the exception of Karate, Gymnastics and Soccer02.  The only available size is 16x24 but does allow for 1, 2 or 3 photos.  Portrait or vertical photographs work best for this style poster.

Magazine Style Posters come in 8x10 size only, but are available for all 12 Border Style Poster templates.  Portrait or vertical photographs work best for this style poster.

Spotlight Style is a technique that is used when working with two or three action photos by spotlighting 1 action photo in the foreground and the others are used in the background without color.  The technique is available in Border and Signature Series style posters.  When placing your order using the Order Form (PDF), please indicate whether you want this style or not.

What makes a great Poster?

  1. Make sure your subject is in focus.
  2. Photos that isolate the subject are a must.
  3. Close-ups (headshots) work well in multiple photo posters.
  4. If you can, avoid sending photos with the subjects face in shadows.
  5. Candid photos also work well in multiple photo posters.  Examples:  Drinking water, cheering on teammates or congratulating teammates.
  6. A poster comprised of only one photograph, it is best to work from a vertical or portrait style photo.
  7. Avoid sending photos that are overexposed (too light) and underexposed (too dark).  We can make some adjustments to your photos, but properly exposed photos work best.
  8. Avoid sending digital photos taken with a camera phone.  Generally, the file size photo is too small to render the larger posters.

I’d like to order a poster, but I don’t have a good camera.  What can I do?
Ask friends or family members if they know someone who is into photography.  A sports action photo assignment is a great opportunity for an amateur photographer to gain experience.

Also, depending on where you live, there may be photographers who specialize in this line of work or who subsidize their photography business by taking sports action photographs.  Your area league officials will be able to provide you with names.  If you hire someone to take your photos, be sure to ask for the rights to the photos.
